Tasting Notes :
Full-bodied, lush style of Pinot Gris with a medium level of sweetness kept in check by a structured palate and a hint of spice on the finish. Our philosophy with Church Road Pinot Gris has always been to sacrifice a little bit of finesse and elegance in favour of producing aromatic wines with character and weight. Our McDonald Series Pinot Gris takes this to the next level!
This is a hedonistic style of Pinot Gris, with its perfume, rich texture and a seductive natural sweetness balanced by a touch of spice on the finish. For those who love a bit of flamboyance! On the palate the wine is lush and full bodied with a moderate level of sweetness balanced by gentle acidity and a touch of ginger spice on the finish. Appealing ripe pear, peach, rose petal, ginger and warm spice aromas are evident on the nose, complimented by subtle creamy complexity.
This wine has a great ability to work with a surprising array of food styles, particularly richer dishes where drier white wines can get lost. A sweet/savoury contrast works well when matching this wine and pork belly is a great example. It is also great with blue cheese, pate and prosciutto. Alternatively it is a great match with many south east Asian inspired dishes.
